In 2001, the organization changed its name to USA Equestrian and, in 2003 it merged with the United States Equestrian Team. In 2017, USEF rebranded as US Equestrian.
Welcome to the United States Hunter Jumper Association. The USHJA is the United States national equestrian organization for hunters and jumpers.
USHJA Certified Trainer
The USHJA Trainer Certification Program presented by Markel was developed to preserve the American Hunter/Jumper Forward Riding System by offering a comprehensive educational program for professional horse trainers. Becoming a Certified Trainer confirms a commitment to continuing professional development, which leads to an ever-increasing group of well-rounded and knowledgeable horsemen.
In order to receive and maintain certification, trainers are tested on a broad spectrum of relevant professional information, including training techniques, safety of horse and rider, horsemanship skills and business ethics.
USHJA Recognized Riding Academy
The USHJA Recognized Riding Academy Program acknowledges lesson programs, riding facilities, equestrian schools, and other types of educational equestrian programs that emphasize horsemanship and sportsmanship, promote safety, and offer introductory hunter/jumper lessons. These programs create a foundation for well-rounded equestrians who benefit the entire sport, and this recognition is designed to encourage the continued development and growth of these types of programs across the country.
